Concentrate on building a public transportation system in "Traffic Giant." Over 20 types of transportation are available to build and manage. The transportation system is the only aspect of the city you have to worry about in "Traffic Giant."
There are two types of game play.
The first involves being an entreprneur. This is where you pick a city - of which there are over thirty to choose from of varying sizes, and develop a transport system from scratch. However, whilst you are developing, a computer opponent will be developing routes too vying for the same business, so the objective is to provide the best service above the other competitor. There are three forms of transport that can be developed. one is buses, the other is rail, and the third is suspended rail. Initially with the given budget it is
only possible to develop bus routes and this is quite simple to do.

The system is based on a series of arrows. Simply click to build a new bus route and a starting point. Then hold the the lef tmouse button and drag it along a particular street in which you want your route to go down. Then repeat this around various other streets and then finally meet the route back up where you start with, then click to confirm the route. Once down various bus stops can be choose to meet various budgets. For example there are plan bus signs all the way to heated enclosed bus stops. These have to be placed adjacent to your route in order for them to become active.
Once this is done you can choose your vehicles. As time progresses better, larger and more modern vehicles become available. However, in the beginning only a small range is available and you have to make sure that you don;t buy too many buses for your route otherwise costs will be greater than earnings. In order to maximise earnings you can choose to advertise your service, provide free travel to students and the elderly. You can also set the price of the basic fare, the price for each zone change, the number of zones and the size of each zone.
After doing this more routes can be created in the same fashion however the ticket prices apply to all routes. A handy question arrow can be selected where you can click on an inidividual house to see where they wish to travel to in the city, thus helping you plan where your route should go to.
The second game involves completing a mission. Whereas the one above involved stahing in profit in the presence of a competitor, instead here you have a monopoly on a city. For each city there are various tasks, but the main ones include reducing city trafiic by a certain %, providing a certain % coverage, and making a set amount of profit. There are more objectives but there is a time limit in years and by that year all objectives must be complete to complete the mission succesfully.
